100th Anniversary of Regeneration

On the evening of September 22, 1912, Edwin Howard Armstrong perfected his first great invention in radio. Armstrong, an undergraduate electrical engineering student at Columbia University, in his attic lab at his home in Yonkers, NY, invented the regenerative radio receiver. Far superior than anything that came before, the regenerative principle would also prove useful to transmit a continuous wave signal dooming the spark systems then in existence.
